Petralia Sottana Genealogy

This is a re-do of my very old (circa 2000) Petralia Sottana genealogy website, which is partially archived on Rootsweb and originally resided on Tripod. I will be migrating the worthwhile content from the old site, and hopefully adding new content.

Petralia Sottana is a small town in the Madonie Mountains in northern Sicily. The town’s population has ranged between 4,000 and 7,000 people over the past 150 years. My father’s father was from Petralia Sottana. I have found a family or surname connection with most everyone I have met whose ancestors are from this town. Those of us with roots there must ultimately be cousins.

A lot has changed in the two decades since I created the original site – we now have terrific online tools: Antenati (the Italy/Sicily Ancestors Portal), an incredible resource for Sicilian genealogy, as well as robust tools on Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org. Anyway, welcome. I always look forward to meeting cousins and researchers.
